I believe you close them in off the buttons (press L & R mirror buttons together) then go out and manually pull them out. That then leaves them permanently open until you reverse the process.

On pre MY13, trip to dealer or appropriate diagnostic tool able to disable "Auto fold" function. You can then manually open/close. MY15

Struggling to understand why you would want to leave the wing mirrors out - perhaps a good time to remind folk that silicone oil sprayed around the pivot point certainly aids the operation of the mirrors. |

Agreed - why would you want them not to fold automatically? Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet? |

just spray some silicon lube into the gap underneath the mirror housing and the arm
