Sterling Moss ..... completed his last lap.

I met Sterling Moss way back in the late 80's, we shared a stage at a Home Automation conference.

He was very interested in my remote telephone control of buildings, which I had developed, to install in his own home. I offered to get a quote for installation, to which he replied "NO I don't want to pay for it" So I asked if he wanted to endorse the product, "you will need to speak to my agent".

To which I replied, "you don't want to pay for the product, you want me to pay to have the product endorsed ? I think it is better I promote my product as 'this is what Sterling Moss HASN'T GOT !!" He told me, I was rude.

Surprised Surprised

Recollect his house was very automated and that he was badly injured some years ago when he got into the lift 'that wasn't there' and fell down the shaft

Yes I remember that story also.

My house was very automated also, in mid 80's I designed a module that could control every light switch and power point, curtains, heating, hotwater ......sprinklers in the lawn from a hand held remote control, controlling any room from any other room.
I later added a remote telephone interface that allowed me to call up the house and control all those functions from any landline/mobile phone. The unit spoke in human speech and 'you' replied in touch-tone from the keypad. The ultimate was the addition of videophone link, seeing and controlling.

I watched all the Goodies programs as a kid, there was a lot of political satire which would be just as poignant today. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
