Hi, Is there any way to tell if you have doubled locked your Freelander. If you press the remote lock button twice within 3 seconds the Freelander is said to be doubled looked but there appears to be no sign that this is indeed the case. On my Freelander I get a double "beep" with both one or two presses. Is this normal ?.

A double beep would indicate a door is not closed properly.
Press once and doors lock, press twice, doors lock, deadlocks and full alarm confirmed with a single beep.

Double beep often caused by bonnet lock. And it means the car is NOT locked. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Thanks for the info. Now another question. My Freelander is at the stealers having both rear door locks changed (under Warranty) so I cant check but I seem to remember that on my 2007 GS the indicators flashed twice when the car was locked. Is this this the same on the 2013 model ?. I don`t remember seeing this on the 2013 car but that may be because the locking had failed. (Manual is on the car so I cannot RTFM ). Sorry to have to ask but will want to check the system out when collecting the car.

My 14 plate started making double beep noises when locking. Apparently it's a timing issue where the alarm is set too early and just before the doors have locked/unlocked and comes about due to an odd set of circumstances (like most IT issues) where various doors and boot lids are opened when locking etc.
There are apparently two ways to get it fixed. One is a hard reset (battery terminals off) the other is a software update which I guess must just introduce a short delay. I mentioned it at my last service and it was sorted.

Remember that the MY13 onwards is a very different vehicle to earlier ones -it's full of Evoque stuff so comparisons with earlier models may not be valid. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Mines one of the later ones - so full of Evoque stuff. The double beeping seems quite random and , not sure if I'm imagining it, but its when I double press the lock button on the fob twice in succession quite quickly. Didn't used to do it.
Service time at my local Indy next month so I'll mention it, along with my creaking clutch pedal (when it's warmed up), since new pedal has only been on since January. Maybe the quality of the plastic body of the replacement pedal is very poor now , or maybe all the pivot points just need blathering with grease .

Its one of the settings that appear on the dash display when you press the top of the left 'indicator' arm.

Aaaaah NO! It’s the “Ok” button on the right of the steering wheel to bring up menu in command centre!
