Door Handles - Body Coloured

I've just bought some Body Coloured Door Handles from a LR Dealership off e-Bay. I was expecting to recieve Door Handle caps, like the chrome ones, that stick over the old ones but no....... I have four new door handles, all in Stornaway Grey!! proper LR part and look really good.

I've spoken to the dealer and after my initial "oh my god I have to take the door panels off" he assures me its all in the wrist and they just pull out (in a special sequence of tugs, twists and jerks)

Anyone fitted these before that can provide any Do's and Don'ts?.
(I know CG had his already supplied with Body Coloured Handles so I will not expect too many words of wisdom from him!!)

I'll post some pics when I have done it and also during the operation in case anyone else fancies a go. I know the Front Near side involves and extra special sequence of tugs, twists and jerks.

Shocked I thought they would have been caps too

Is there anything in the ownersinfo site about door panels coming off Question

I would be careful about scratching them, the last car i had got scratched by my wedding ring and my wife opening the door holding the keys in her hand Evil or Very Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Well after much tugs, twists and jerks I have fitted the door handles.

If anyone is mad enough to do the same, send me a PM and I'll give you a step by step guide.

Pictures attached:

This is what they look like (before fitting obviously) Notive the sticky out things which is where the twists and jerks come in

Fitted (this one is Front n/s and requires a bit more work to remove the emergency door mechanism)

Side view

The finished job. No internal work needed or door panels to remove. All done from the outside. Takes about 20mins

Looking good PA51 ELY... Was thinking about getting the body coloured wing mirrors for mine, but i don't think it will have the same impact as the car is Sumatra black!

Really liking the steps.. I fitted black tubes to mine a few months ago but now thinking i should have gone with the steps, although they may get in the way as being 6' 2" i'll probable have to step over them when getting in and out of the car - although handy when cleaning the roof Rolling Eyes

Just wating for LR to bring out the optional motorized retractible side steps as found on the FFRR... very smart Thumbs Up

Nice handles by the way! 2008 SE, HSE wheels, Black Premium Leather, Privacy Glass, Sports Kit, Side Steps, various LED upgrades and Clear side indicators.

Thanks for the comments. One way CG of stopping them getting scratched is to cover them in black tape!!, or maybe I'll put some lard on them? Thumbs Up

Side steps, well I put them on for the wife as she is a short A**E. She uses them every time to get in/out. Like Steva I am 6ft tall (and just as wide!) and find I do not use them but just step over the step. No good for cleaning roof as my belly gets in the way and I fall off!!

Perhaps we should start a thread to see what we all look like???? or shall we just guess! (a bit like CG's Job pole)
