Just had the 1st service (thanks again for the info BMartin). Done 16,000 km.

I got stiffed for new front wipers, but I made sure I got the originals back, since I didn't notice any problems beforehand

However, they found a leak between the gearbox & transmission, requiring a 2 day gasket replacement job , which they will do in about 2 weeks time.

But that's under warranty of course .

Seems a bit fragile that a mega-important seal can fail after just 16,000 km ?

Also - did anyone get charged for the oil & pollen filter - or are those costs already built into the overall 1st service charge ?

i got charged for my filters, on the statement, the the cost of the service was still the same  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

How much oil was filled?

I paid 138 DKK (+ 25% VAT) for the oil filter, 166 DKK (+ 25% VAT) for the pollen filter.

I've not received the invoice yet - only a "job report".

But they wrote on the job report, that they had used 6 ltrs of oil (and they returned the 7th litre).

I have changed the oil & oil filter myself about 5 months ago & I seem to remember that it did not take 6.5 ltrs (which is specified as the full replacement volume) ??

I assume they have actually changed the oil filter and the unrequired 0.5 ltrs is not the old oil, still inside the old oil filter

My service cost is DKr 3,274 - for just the standard service (meaning, not including the costs for the filters, oil, etc etc). Total costs = DKr 5,971 (and I provided the oil !).

So the basic, standard service inspection is 75% more expensive than yours - for the same work !


Do you reckon that I need them to explain this increase !!??

Hi Jimmy, I have paid for the 1st service excluding oil (I have delivered my own oil) EUR 281,53 incl. corrosion control with stamping the warranty book accordingly. When I hand over the car to the LR-workshop for servicing, I make clear that I do not want the wipers changed and I do not want any additives in the oil or the wiper fluid. They note it down on the service order, copy of which will be handed over to me. The workshop manager does not like it - but I am the customer, and I have to pay.
