freelander 2 with 20" kahn wheels

Guys have just purchased a 2011 facelift freelander 2 with 20" Kahn wheels. I have always only every owned sports coupes so have this as my wife's car and to be honest first dabble in the 4x4 market. I have seen these wheels on range rovers and only now found out they are not a factory option like I was told at the garage. I can't seem to find any other fl2 with these on will it cause me any issues running this size wheel ?. Does anybody else have these wheels and when I replace the tyres which are the best brand as it currently has budget with high tyre noise.

welcome to the site Thumbs Up

FL2, depending on model and year, could be specced with 16'' 17'' 18'' or 19'' wheels from factory.

Plenty of guys on here have fitted 20'' Range Rover Evoque alloys as the Evoque wheels are a direct swap to FL2. They have had no issues at all.

There are even a 1 or 2 on here (LRNUT for one) who have 22'' Kahn wheels fitted with no issues.

Personally I would remove each wheel and check they are suitablly rated for the FL2 or Chinese copies

Wheels are quiet a integral part when it comes to safety, so while they are off check for cracks and buckles as Khan Originals don't have the best of reputation either Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

If they are genuine Kahn alloys then they will be correctly load rated for the car. I've been running Kahn 22's on mine from NEW with zero problems. No harm in taking the wheels off and checking the load ratings!

The larger the alloy you have the more prone they are to fracturing if your racing through pot holes. We've got many Land Rovers in the family. Some have got Kahn 23" alloys and some have Overfinch 22" alloys. We've never had one fracture till date.

One thing to bear in mind is that genuine LR's alloys are designed tougher to cope with off road driving.

If your alloys are fine you have nothing to worry about. Thumbs Up

Tyres wise never buy budget rubber. I'm running Pirelli Scorpian Zero M+S - 265/35R22. In all honesty you cannot even tell I've got on 22s when driving it.
