Activating DAB in SDD (CCF edit?)

Hi everyone, I've been picking so much information from this site it is amazing the knowledge the posters have!

I will apologise now if I have missed it but I have a 2008 HSE and was looking at fitting an aftermarket DAB unit when I realised mine had the DAB antenna, then realised it has the DAB amp and DAB module.
So my question is how it is activated and do we have any members in the north west area willing to do this? Would LR be willing to do it at a reasonable price?

How do you know it has the DAB amp and module. My 2009 HSE has the "Premium" radio with DAB button and the aerial but I dont think it has the amp and module (it certainly doest work!) as it seems there was a batch around those years which were "fitted for, but not with" DAB. I would be interested in how you get on. 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)

DAB is over-rated. Save your money for a better toy. 🍾 FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Each to his own opinion of course. I have DAB in another vehicle and the station choice alone makes it superior IMHO to FM. 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)

Agreed. But to me not more choices just more crap. I prefer to plug in my music and roll along so the Bluetooth is more important. Cool FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I have physically looked behind the trim and seen them. The amp is in the headlining above the aerial and the module is in the left side of the boot behind the plastic, mine is along side the towing electric module.

If what you are saying is correct it more likely the DAB ECU is faulty and the DAB functionality is not working. As its part of the MOST network, if it's Infact faulty, then the whole systems shouldn't work!
First step would be to remove "ring break circuit" pin in the RJB. It's a small piece of metal which looks like it bridges 2 relay pin positions. Remove for about 5 minutes and replace. This should reset the MOST network ECU's including the DAB ECU.
If this doesn't fix it then I would suggest you go to LR and get them to diagnose the problem by connecting up to SDD. This will tell you exactly what the issue is.
But all of this is on the premise that your vehicle does have DAB.

Well, just had a look. I do have fuse FD3 in the fuse holder for "DAB" but on taking off the side panel trim there is no DAB module - just the Parking Assist Module and the Trailer Module. Crying or Very sad

It can be easily retrofitted.
For your model you can refer to this thread.

That's a very useful / well explained post. As I have all the 'hardware' fitted and the car is listed as having DAB from the build I'm now hoping its just an issue with the car system settings.
So back to my question really, is there any members in the north west of England who are able to edit these, or can somebody recommend an where might do it. Last resort is LR.
Thanks for all the replies too!

If your car has DAB then it's not a CCF edit you require as it should already be "enabled".
There must be a problem which needs to be resolved/diagnosed, as I suggested I would go to a dealer and ask them to diagnose the problem. MY15

Hi Stuart, I read your thread with interest since getting the car in Feb but hoped that IF Dr Dean had the full fit but it wasnt enabled (for some reason) then I too had the kit. I still cannot understand why the car would be fitted with the premium head unit and aerial but not the amp and module!! was it a case of LR not having all the bits at the time? The marketing info at the time, as well as the handbook clearly states that the Premium ICE included DAB. 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)
