Intermittent fault, please help!

Hi all,

My 2007 FL2 has been playing up recently.

First time we went to pull out at a roundabout and nothing happened when we pressed the accelerator, it just kind of hung/limped for a few seconds, chucked some black smoke out the back, then went off as if nothing had happened.

The second time it hung whilst accelerating up a hill, juddered a bit, then cleared itself again.

The third time it did quite a bit of hanging/limping over the course of a few miles, going between working fine and juddering/no acceleration.

No messages have come up on dash.

A friend plugged in a code reader and it shows the following:

P1259 immobiliser to power train control module signal error
P061B internal control module torque calculation performance
P169F control module-unused fault code (?!)
P0046 turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid - circuit range/performance
P0570 speed control acceleration/set switch on fault

Any ideas/advice gratefully received please, as I'm now scared to go out with my four month old daughter in the car in case it happens again and there's an accident.

Many thanks Smile

Thank you...but wouldn't it behave badly all the time if it was a split hose? It's been driving fine the last few days...

Not necessarily as the split may not open until under load roo when warmed up (ambient or operating temp) - the clue for me was the black smoke which suggests the diesel is not being burned properly - split hoses are very common but can be absolutely awful to find - it's a good place to start as they can and do throw up all sorts of intermittent problems.

If its not the hoses and fuel delivery then its either mechanical (EGR valve, throttle body, turbo etc) or its electrical - MAF, control units, earth strap etc etc

The error codes you have got are not terribly helpful as they could support any or all of these potential sources Confused No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

2014 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

Annoyingly this happened to us today, well, the missus and kids.

We’ve been along the south coast over the last week, 100’s of miles enjoying the beautiful weather, with no issues whatsoever, the day I go back to work she drives to Sainsbury’s with the kids and the car decides to go into limp mode. Big Cry

I scanned it when I got home and it was showing the Restricted Performance on the dash and the P0046 code on the scanner, after a quick google, I thought it may be the inter cooler pipe that seems to be a common fault, I took the old one off but it looked fine, no deterioration or splits. I ordered another one anyway as they are cheap.

Meanwhile I cleared the fault on the scanner, and it held. It drove absolutely fine.

Now, I plan on changing the pipe, if it happens again, what would be the next potential thing to look at?

Thanks
