I lost all the oil from Haldex through the hole indicated in picture.
Does anyone know why is this hole? As I understood there had to be a stopper.

Looks like someone's been at it with a drill!

As I learned from a friend there should be a stopper.

Inside the Haldex - Differential ensemble, there are some seals.
As the ensemble is a closed one, you can't know the state of those seals without dismantling and separating the Haldex from the differential.
That hole is a "tell-tale". When the seals fail, the oil is "drained" through that hole and you know that the seals have failed and possible the oils from the two have "mixed"...

It seems logical.
This I thing is related with the fact that I have repaired the rear differential by replacing all the bearings(have some strange noise came from it).
This job was done by some guys specialized in those kind of repairs.

I found an exploded schema of the differential.





As the oil that is draining through that hole is from Haldex, I'm expecting that the 7H426(Part no LR023442) seal from the schema needs to be replaced.

Yes. But also some things will run on dry and will get damaged, because the rotational motion will still be there...

That much from dry.... Or when you take the Haldex out and fully drain and clean it.
Otherwise, a partial drain.... I don't know.

After reading on here about the Haldex units I decided to have my filter and oils changed and there was some of the gunk inside so I think it was money well spent.When the guy rang Landrover for the parts they asked why as they had never done one.Next on the list will be the AT fluid and waxoil or dinatrol under neath.

Reviving an old thread, but I have the same issue with my car (oil weeping from the hole).

What causes it and what is the resolution please? Is it a service of the Haldex (oil, o-rings and filter) or more terminal than that?

As Alex indicated above, its a failure of the 'double edged' pinion shaft seal that separates the Haldex oil from the diff oil.

Won't be rectified by a Haldex service.

You might find someone who can do it in situ - otherwise the diff has to come out. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

It's going to Bell Engineering to rectify.

Austen who runs it seems very well known and respected. I explained the issue and sent some photos. He didn't seem concerned and said it will just need a haldex service and replacement of the pinion seal. There was no mention of rear diff removal etc.

He is doing the work whilst at wait.
