I'm wanting to fit a rear facing dash-cam (I have a Blackvue DR380 up front).

My rear screen has an after market tint on it, so mounting the cam will be a problem. Has anyone overcome this and found a way to mount one?

the only issue i could possible envisage is if you wanted to unstick the mount from the screen, the chases are the sticky pad could pull off the tint film

best to make sure you position it right first time round, or find one with a suction cup

or make a suitable bracket which won't vibrate and secure it to the metalwork of the boot


not sure what route you are thinking about, but i found a hole with a sticky pad over it, in the headlining, at the centre rear, that gave access to the area were the run the wires through the black rubber pipe to the boot and then behind the plastic fascia to the centre top of the screen Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Why not use one of the many rear number plate type of cameras - saves all the hassle of disturbing the inside of the tailgate No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

how would you get the camera wiring to the number plate?

with my method, i only had to pull the headlining down a fraction poke wire through and remove the internal plastic trim which you do to replace the high level brake light

surely a number plate mounted one would need the whole boot dismantling or similar Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

If the rear screen is tinted from factory, it's the glass which is tinted rather than a film. If its aftermarket film, then you may have a problem should you ever want to remove the camera.

I have two wedges (A118), one front, one rear. The rear one is wired through the tailgate trim, through the rubber wiring tube and then through the headlining, down the A post and into a 12V outlet hidden in the transmission tunnel console. Ive modded the trim panel to match the curvature of the tailgate trim. The front cam wiring meets the rear cam wiring at the top of the A post and they run to the outlet together.

Having had a Blackvue, wanted something more OEM looking and you can buy two for under £100.

Just a case of finding a camera and then plugging it into the rear power socket. It should be easy enough to neatly run any cables around the boot I think.
