Came accross this article -

Quote:
Ford has cut back to a four-day week until Christmas at its Transit van plant in Southampton, as has Land Rover at its plant in Solihull

been on a 4 day week for a while, they have also sent a few to the Jag plant to help with the new XF Very Happy

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Firenze Red

There's been a piece on sky news
It could be worse if Tata decides to transfer the Range Rover production as a whole, overseas. If sales in this country are low, but demand in India and China is high, it would be logical to move manufacture to India.

That would indeed be a savage blow - so many jobs in this country would be lost, and the prestige of losing the production of the world's finest 4 x 4 would be very damaging.

These are turbulent times in the global Financial markets. We could yet see similar mind-boggling changes in the car producing world.

Lets hope not

The USA is now the place to move your engineering company to............... due to the Dollar being so low, it's cheaper to manufacture in the USA now than in China or India! How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
