Can I just buy any OBD Reader to check fault codes, or do I have to get a specific landrover one?

If so can you point me in the direction of what to get please

I use HawkEye, does most things ie engine OBD, airbag, service reset, body controller, transmission, steering wheel calibration.
Has the advantage that you don't need a computer, or phone app.
Has the disadvantage that it costs around £250 Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I have a blue tooth elm 327 bought on ebay for a few quid, you can download an obd2 reader and reseter to your smart phone, just got car scanner pro for £1.49 for my windows phone. That allows you to read the eroors, reset them, and monitor the ecu during driving.

I did the same as dave 500 all be it got the software from Google play. Works well.

Using the map functionality/logging I found out it costs me 24p to go asda lol
