Here's ours. Same as yours. We went for a Match model too as it's very well spec'd. Really good on fuel too. Admittedly, we don't use it much these days but apart from a couple of tyres, a re-gas of the A/C and scheduled servicing, we've had no trouble with it in the 3 and a bit years that we've had it. I think it had @66,000 on the clock when we bought it.

Nice motor that Thumbs Up

The dealer phoned to say it's arrived so I'm going after work tomorrow to drive it. He has promised that if a cambelt and those other bits need doing, it will be done. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Well its a done deal Thumbs Up Very happy with the test drive Very Happy Very smooth and refined and not overly noisy for an older diesel. Interior superb and the scratches that do exist on the paint will be sorted before collection next Wednesday as will the minor marks on the alloys.

The cambelt and other bits will be checked when they service it and if they need doing, they will be replaced. 3 month warranty thrown in too along with paperwork for the service they do and all paperwork printed from VW database. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Question for Steve D: How are the standard headlights? Worth a set of better bulbs such as night breakers or are they fine as they are? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Tut tut, Doc, you're slipping. 3 months warranty? You now have 6 months warranty on used cars under the 2015 consumer rights act. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-b...ights.html

As for the lights, anything compared to xenons (which I have had on my last two cars) seem like a couple of candles on the front! I did upgrade the bulbs when we got it but I can't remember what bulbs I fitted. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Not at all mate, nothing there I didn't already know. The Act doesn't give you a warranty, its an additional and separate entity to what the dealer offers. The warranty is always easier to utilise short of small print arguments than having to engage in legal debate. The 6 months aspect mentioned in that article existed previously under S.48A of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

Thanks for the pointer on the lights. I'll check them out on an unlit lane and see how they compare to the old car and if needs be I'll order some better bulbs. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I stand corrected m'laud!

One thing that really can make a difference is your actual headlamp alignment but as you say, try them on an unlit road before doing anything. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Another question Steve, I don't do supermarket fuel so I use Shell as a rule (just up the road). I don't mind the extra cost of V-Power diesel and I don't expect big performance or MPG gains but is V-Power going to be better for the Golf's engine? Make things smoother perhaps? Or is normal Shell diesel just as good really? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
