egr blanking?

Been reading some egr threads but don't think I have come across this

What happens when you blank the egr, does it still try and move open and close?

Mine still sounds like a crock of poo and tbh im getting to the point now that it might be easyer to blank it off, but I think the problem I have is the solenoid / motor that makes it open and close, the bloody thing makes so much noise. Will it still make these parts try and move if the egr is blanked?

No offence but is it the EGR that is making the noise and not the throttle body? You can remap to stop the flaps from moving and/or blank, don't know about any noise change on EGR though?

None taken and yes its the egr, this is the second one LR have replaced and its still aload of poo

The first one they fitted didn't work at all. Second one makes a right noise hense the blanking but if its still going to be moving the valve when its blanked it wont stop my problem Rolling Eyes Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

Not sure if just blanking will solve the issue. If the valve is making a noise, I don't think it should be so could you get them to replace it? How long ago did they do it, as you should be able to get them to replace it if it was within 12 months? If it is any consolation I had three wheel bearings done on the same wheel until they got it right!

Hi, I was told 12 months warranty on parts when my pinion bearing in diff was replaced under extended warranty last march.

Expecting it to fail on 1st April. Wink

Thanks for that. It was LR customer service that told me 12months. No doubt stealer just agreed.

Question is, does the bearing know that I know and will it fail this year anyway?

Cheers, JGH99

Hi guys thanks for the help, yes it was fitted by my local main dealer summer last year so is under 12 months. They just seem to try and get out of doing anything but think i will go back again and leave the keys Laughing just looking into if the blanking might be easyer than getin blod from a stone Rolling Eyes

Each time i have to go back it costs time and money from work and so on, so the £4 blank seems tempting, though the £400+ for the egr seems wasted as its still pants

Hi, I bought one of these this week. Quality part and delivered really quickly. Will be fitting tomorrow. I'll let you know if it makes any difference.

Are you having problems with the car other than the noise from the valve itself?

Cheers, JGH99.

Hi JGH99

Yeah its the valve its self, nothing else wrong and all normal ( even drives good ) Going to go for a drive this afternoon and plug the hawkeye in to see if I can catch it on a drive while filming.

Hi, fitted blanking plate today. Very easy to do. I went for the version with th small hole. Could use the total blank but being a bit cautious. Only four quid to try.

First impressions are just a bit better on pick up below 2000rpm. Pulls away from standing start a hit better.

Have to wait till next week and the daily commute to see if any change in fuel consumption.

How did the hawkeye/video run go?

JGH99

Udate on plate fitting. Still pulling better below 2000rpm. Fuel consumption gone up from 35.5mpg to 37.0mpg.

Not incredible but 4%. I will try the full blank after another couple of weeks.

Shes back at landrover as of yesterday and they will be ( looking into it on Thursday Rolling Eyes )

Will see what excuse they come up with this time, though I have left the dash cam to record so at least I will know what they have done if anything...

Surely it makes no difference, I was told that the dealer gets paid for fitting the failed item by LR if it fails in the warranty period rather than the warranty insurance or yourself. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
