Sooo...
SWMBO finally got totally fed up with the incessant squeaking of the blower/HVAC fan and instructed me to sort it out...like you do.

Luckily I had previously bought an 18" bit of WD40 can pipe so attached that to my can of Silicone spray Very Happy

For those that have previously asked...and those who face this issue in the future I took photos as I tried to determine the best access point...

(All photos are from an MY15 RHD 2.2 model)

From inside the cabin:

From in the engine bay:

Easy!

However...as it turned out...having emptied a third of a can on to the spindle, both at rest, and at full chat, it made not a blind bit of difference Mad

The solution for me ended up pushing a pry-bar through the engine bay/battery cover access hole and gently applying some force to the spindle in all directions. Quiet as a whisper now. Until next time it starts. Obviously. Laughing

Cheers Paul...looks like I'll be taking the wipers off and the rain shroud off at the weekend Smile

How did you get the fan to not rotate whilst drilling it?

It’s been a few years since I drilled that hole and my memory isn’t as good as it once was.

But I think I drilled a small hole first so that the cage would not move and then followed up with a larger diameter bit.

Let us know what you end up doing.

Happy Motoring

Paul

PS My LR2 is with my daughter now and I don’t get to see her much.

p_gills suggestion of using an extended pipe, a straw, really works well
