Alive Tuning Re-Map

After quite a bit of deliberating and research and a few phone calls, I decided to go with Alive Tunings re-map for the Freelander.
Booked her in for this morning and just thought I would say wow!
What a difference, can't believe I waited until now.....
I decided I just simply wanted more power to make everyday driving nicer and to have a bit of added grunt when overtaking etc...
The power comes in from about 1200 up to 3000rpm and is a really noticeable hike on before .. 4th or 5th gear overtakes are no longer a worry... She flys!!
What surprised me was the amount I kept grinning on the 60 mile journey home...

The other thing I can not get my head round is before I have been averaging 28mpg and she doesn't really get driven hard, I have done about 100 miles since this morning and my economy is already up to 32 and I've not tried at all....

As an added bonus I even got some free stickers Wink

Big thanks to the guys at Alive and if anyone is considering doing it, go for it!!

And a cheeky pic of the new 20" Shadow Chromes... Wink

My 2008 FL2 has just clocked up a 'massive' 42000 miles from new. At 6000 miles per year, is it worth paying for a remap? I'd like to get it done just for the extra power.

What do you guys do about insurance, do you inform your insurance company and if so what is their reaction?
I had problems with insurance when fitting an overdrive unit to my Defender 90 and thats just an extra gear, not
a performance hike.

My cars and the wife's are all insured through my trade policy, so it made no difference to me

However, if you word it carefully, a lot of insurers don't charge any extra for an "economy" remap, or a remap "for more torque to improve towing"

Thumbs Up

Hi All,

What sort of price was it for a remap? I spend my time between country roads (mainly) some motorway work and towing a horse box.. looking for some added torque and power, any additional fuel saving is a bonus!

Hi. Does it improve the initial get away? I really don't like the lag...

Thanks
