Warning chimes

Is it possible to turn off the warning chimes that sound for "key in ignition and door open" on a 2006 SE. I have done the seat belt silence with the 10 clicks trick so half way to peaceful bliss.

Yep. One simple push of the key fob to release it from its dock does it! Whistle Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thanks for the tip but the engine tends to stop when I remove the key and I don't always want it to when I am dropping off or picking up.

It is possible in the ccf you may alter the cars warnings and alerts.
You would need a tool to view/alter this.

Joe Fix it until it's broke !

Just a reminder: In days gone by when Mr Plod actually walked the streets instead of keeping nice and toasty in his battenburg street prowler, he would "'ave you my fella my lad" for parking up and leaving the motor running & unattended. Not permitted! Still applies today Wink

I believe if you just walk off leaving the car running and key in it then it wont be insured if someone jumps in and drives off in it?, like what happens when people leave their car running to defrost whilst they go off and have their breakfast.
I still see folk pour a kettle of hot water over their windows to remove the ice though and im amazed they dont crack the glass more often too, ive seen one screen shatter and the owner looking on in amazement in a now how did that happen kind of thing.

A little pedantic of me, I accept - however, a car left running and unattended will still be insured if stolen for the purposes of the Road Traffic Act.

However, upon learning of the method by which the vehicle was taken, the insurer could very well seek to recover their losses from you.

As such it's not strictly correct to say the car isn't insured. It's just that the insurance company may decide not to pay out, AND may seek to recover their losses in dealing with the incident - which, I accept, is (in a practical sense) the same thing.

It starts getting really funky if/when the stolen vehicle is involved in an accident. The stolen vehicle has an insurance policy in force, but the DRIVER is not a authorised driver under the terms of that insurance, but the vehicle was stolen through the negligence of the insurance policy holder, and a third-party has incurred loss as a result.

A minefield which could leave the vehicle owner (and policy holder) DEEPLY out of pocket to the tune of a sphincter-twitching amount of money...

If it is left running with the keys in it and it is subsequently stolen, the insurance will only pay out on third party claims. There's no way they'd pay the owner out for their loss though. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Sorry lads I seem to of miss led you, I don't leave it running on the highway and go for a stroll, it chimes when passengers get in and out or raise the tailgate and when I get out to on my drive to do things, maybe my car is a runt, it may be as it was cloned.

Yep. Exactly my point. Very Happy

The owner has lost the vehicle, the insurance won't pay out for the loss of said vehicle, AND the insurer could seek to recover their third party liabilities from the owner.

Imagine a scenario where that stolen vehicle crashed into a house, or (God forbid) killed someone, then the owner/policy holder could face a bill for a bankruptcy-inducing amount.
