Spot lights

I am looking to fit some long range spot lights or maybe a driving and a spot light.

I have up to £100 max to spend, less would be better.

What would you recommend?

Hella Rallye 3003 Compacts are an excellent unit built to OEM quality. They come in a range of beam patterns and a bit of shopping around should find some in your budget. I've had them on my D2 for 4 years.

They have a clear lens with shaped reflectors in the modern style and the bezel can be painted to match your car.

Not sure how you would mount them on a FL2 though. I'd like some on my FL2.

Found some Rallye 3003 compacts for £120. I belive you get them in either driving or pensil beams.

Another make I have seen are Terrafirma.

I dont have any roof rails for a light bar plus I feel, looking at your vid, is they give great floor but not very good spot lighting

Terrafirma stuff does get a good rep.

yep, ment for off road, and the dark country lanes - wide beam and long range is key

Got carried away today and ended buying some Lightforce lights.

Now does anyone know where to feed a wire through the bulkhead

there are many threads here on running a wire through the firewall / bulkhead.
The consensus is - is isnt easy to do correctly.

Some prefer to run the wire through the run for the Bonnet Release Cable (On my MY13, I couldnt get this to work)
I dropped it through the heater blower box ( Yes it does have a propper name, I just forget, seem to recall Phlegm chamber Smile )

If you choose this method, remember to cable tie the cable back correctly so it does not imped the movement of the flaps etc

If you were local, or passing you could pop in and look at how mine is run,if this helps.

If you use the bonnet release cable route, be careful with the bulkhead grommet. On my MY2007 it popped out and was a Censored to get it back in due to the lack of access. Seem to remember that due to access I had to route the relay switch cable from inside the car (remove the glovebox) out into the engine compartment.

I may yet put some spots on my current MY 2013 but I need to get a wiring diagram to check to see if the main beam is wired the same way as the MY2007 so I can take a feed off the back of the headlight for the aux light relay. Don’t suppose anyone has a drawing?

All the best, Thumbs Up

Update.

When I bought the spots I also bought a Bushranger X Bar, so today I have been fitting this. I have so far removed the bumper assembly and attached the X Bar usig 8mm stainless bolts with strenghtening plates behind. The x bar is flat and does not follow the curve of the bumber so made some allumining packing washers so that its bolts up tight which stressing the bumber,

I then pitter the number plate where its supposed to go on the X Bar but did not like the way it sat forwayd so modded the X Bar and removed the number plate lip. The plate now sits on the back part of the X Bar nicely hing the fixing bolts,

So tomorrow I will re-assemble the bumber back onto the car and start the wiring.

I was hpoing there was a spare switch that I could use to turn the lights on and off, I know I could just energise the relay from the high beam feed but I like the idea of being able to not alays having the spots on when the high beam is on, however no spare switches.

Those of you who have already fitted spots what type of switch did you use and where did you locate it?
