Popped over from the Disco3 Forum for help

Hi,

Just popped over from the Disco3 forum, I am looking at Freelander 2's at the moment as a second car and wondered if there is anything I need to look for such as recalls, faults etc etc. The D3 has had a few since we had it so I am guessing there must be some.

I have found a TD4 GS Auto and am in negotiations at the moment. It's an 07 registration and according to the seller it also has sat nav, but from looking at the current price list sat nav is not available on the GS.

Any tips on what to look for.

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

Only recall I'm aware of is for the sunroof.

Overall reliability has been very good.

Some people have mentioned excessive wear on the B pillar seatbelt area and I think LR are now replacing affected B pillars and seat belts.

After 12000 miles my TD4 SE is still proving to be reliable, good to drive and I'm getting over 36 mpg on shortish journeys and more on longer journeys.

I believe early cars had software issues on the start button but updates seem to have cured this At work

Thanks, hopefully it would have had the software update at service. Have to say it is a much shorter list of potential issue's than our D3 Embarassed

Any idea's on the sat nav in a GS Question

the GS doesn't have the same radio as the SE, HSE that have the satnav, but i don't know if the radio is a integrated part of the satnav

This radio also has the telephone PTI built into it too, so if it is integrated it may also include the PTI

I have heard that a LR radio won't work with any other car as its coded to a particular vehicle Sad

It could also be a aftermarket satnav that been hardwired Question Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks, I haven't actually viewed the car as it is 2 hours drive away. We are sorting the price out first subject to viewing.

I will have to have a close look at the Sat Nav when I finally view it and see if it is factory or not. Thumbs Up Disco 3 Owner looking for Freelander 2 as well

FWIW, I have the Sept 07 LR price & options list and the Sat Nav was a £1500 option on the XS but not available on the GS, the auto box is great Thumbs Up

United Arab Emirates 2008 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

As already said there has not been any major issues and the other niggling items have mainly been software bugs which to have all been cured now.

Items that I know of being an issue are:
General software bugs on 06 models
- Software update fixed majority of problems

DPF filter clogging
- Seems to have been fixed with a software update (Couple of reports)

Non-start issues
- Several reports fixed with software

Rear diff sensor failure (IIRC)
- Faulty batch of sensors from supplier (Couple of reports)

Sunroof clips
- Small job, just the addition of clips to the sunroof as a rework for a potential problem (1 report I think)

Leatherette on seat sides wearing
- Several reports but no solution

Seat belt wearing into guide in pillar
- Everyone suffers from this and now seems maybe new parts are available, but info is sketchy at best.

Aux heater issue
- A couple of members have reported that LR is having to disconnect the Aux heater due to potential problems until the parts are in stock for the fix.

Not much else I think, which has proven teh FL2 to be very realiable which is amzing considering it was an all new product.

As already said you'll love the auto! Thumbs Up Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!
