Now that level of taxation DOES make your eyes water!! Don't repeat it too often though or our Tony will consider it in his arsenal for his car bashing crusade.

Come to think of it, when the UK press was accusing car manufacturers of ripping off the UK buyer some years ago, they were citing base prices of cars in Scandinavia to support their argument. What they forgot to add was that after tax the retail price of the car was astronomically high.

ok guys let me cheer you up a bit: did you know that for an HSE i6 Full Extra in Greece you have to pay 62000€, from which around 10000€ is import tax??? (I don't know of any other european country which does this!)

€62,300 here in Ireland, and if the D3/RRS specs are anything to go by, the Irish HSE will have less toys than the UK HSE - for example an Irish D3 HSE is the exact same as the UK SE version.

still some way to our 67.400 euros. also here, the HSE isn't fully spec'd. for instance, the navisystem isn't included in the 67.400 HSE i6 setup... 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

navisystem ?
In my opinion, this is the kind of option that shows how unreasonable expensive car options are. You can get after market GPS sytems with the same performances 4 or 5 times cheaper. Ok, a build in system looks nicer and gives you better protection against theft but it doesn't justify the price of more than 2000 €.

i fully agree... the LR design/sales teams are shrewd enough to design the car so that if you opt out of the navisystem, you end up with a gaping hole in the centre of the dash. you are forced to buy the navisystem if you want to keep the interior sleek... 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

Isn't that nice ? When I ordered my FL, I measured that "gaping hole" (it is 15 x 8 cm). Now, I'm looking for a performant GPS that should fit nicely into it which is better than a windscreen mounting position.
