Before I rip off any trim, how do you remove these?

Remove trim screws, remove trim, and unbolt brackets - the nut serts turned on mine but managed to jam them with a screw driver.
At least I think that's all I did.

Getting them back on afterwards can be a challange, I needed to replace a few of the fasteners to do it properly. PowerfulUK sell them if you need them. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

you would need to drill them out, but you don't need to, just leave them there....

EDIT: To be clear the rivnuts are threads rivited into the sills, the brackets bolt into them. So, once the plastic cover is off it is just a case of unbolting the brackets.

Ok they are coming off fine. I see there are multiple rubber ports on the bodywork. I have Lanoguard - would it be sensible spraying some in each hole to protect the sills? Learned to drive in 2011.

btw. I have no experience of rustproofing the freelander (it is on my list!) but I would have thought the more lanoguard you get get in there better, as long as you don't block drain holes of course. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

These are the powerfulUK clips I linked to. I think the originals are all black but on the powerfulUK ones the yellow bit clips into the bodywork and the white bit clips into the plastic. You are then supposed to push the two together to fasten.

All that said, I found this pretty hard to do right. It was much easier to fit the complete clip (ie both halves mated together) to the plastic trim then push the barb into the bodywork. ie treat it as one part. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

I can confirm that the white and yellow clips work perfectly for putting the trim back on. Everything is Lanoguarded and put back together.

Dunno if the side steps are salvageable though. Learned to drive in 2011.

I have a pair of side steps stuck behind my bins. I don't know what I am going to do with them but they definitely are not going back on the car. FL2 2007 2.2d Auto SE. Baltic Blue.

Yeah, the steps are in perfect condition however the mounts underneath are very much not. Don’t know if they are salvageable and therefore sellable. Learned to drive in 2011.
