My 08 FL2's front passenger door can't be locked, which seems to be a common problem. The difference to all the other posts is, that I cannot lock the door even from inside. Using the remote or the center console button I can hear a noise form inside the door as if it wants to close but seems to be blocked. So I'm not sure if it is the latch which has to be replaced. Is it possible that there is another fault like a hung out cable or something like that? btw. Alarm can be activated but like Isaid before the remains open - not good while parking in dark streets .

I was about to say, does it lock with the key, but then realised you will be left hand drive, so presumably it's the door without the key hole. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

My front door done that a while back it was caused by the typical failing door latch as there is two motors one to lock the other unlocks. I did get it to work for a short time by spraying cable oil down the door handle latch cable. Three months later it failed again so replaced the latch, I did keep and fix the old one for spare thanks to a handy repair guide from another member on here.

Thanks for your answer. So I will order a new latch. Hope I will get it replaced by myself, because the cable/latch connection seems to be a little bit fiddly .

OMG, a couple of hours. I planned to do it in 1-2 h. Good to know, that it might take more time. Pedro, what is the most fiddly step? Can I optimize it with special tools?

Here is a brief summary of this DIY for the right hand front door latch:

1. Unclip / unscrew the door card (I did not bother to disconnect the battery as there is no airbag in the door and you need to power the window mechanism down and up during the process). Remove window wiring, speaker wiring and puddle light wiring. Remove latch cable. The door card should now be free.
2. Remove speaker. Unscrew mounting screws for the window module.
3. Remove screw for the outer weather strip and then remove weather strip.
4. Insert 2 tools to prise back the 2 window clips until the glass is free of each. (You will need to make these tools using wood or metal or use 2 plastic rulers).
5. Tape the glass to the door frame and the 2 'tools' to the glass. Re-connect the door card at the window switch. Lower the window mechanism - glass should not move !
6. Unscrew window regulator mechanism and move to the left. Unscrew door latch and door handle (Screws are inside and outside).
7. Remove door latch and inner door handle (These are connected by a cable). Connect up new latch. Replace latch and handles (inside and out).
8. Re-fit window mechanism into the hole in the inner door skin. Re-fit door card window switch and bring the mechanism up close to the glass (Too far and the anti-trap activates and the mechanism will go ALL the way back down again !). Un-tape glass and lower the glass down by hand into mechanism making sure the 2 plastic glass clips both 'click' into place.
9. Re-fit everything else !

In the mean time try holding down the unlock button to drop the windows then lean in and try locking the door then global close the windows

Yeah didnt know if he was trying to lock it from passenger side or before closing door. You can only get away with that on rear doors afaik

During the last weekend I've tested the lock/latch with the door card removed. I detached the inner handle to proof the function of the cable itself an everything was working fine. Remote and manual lock/unlock withut any issue about 30-40 times. So I put everything together and as soon as I've attached the door panel the door locks unreliably (maybe 5 of 50 trials). Any idea, what's wrong? btw: where is the sensor/switch for "door open/closed"?

If you screwed the door card / panel back in place then maybe one of the fixing screws is penetrating the wiring loom ? FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
