I've used turtle wax before and no damage evident, I don't believe for a minute that was what damaged your leather.

2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

We had a new,rather expensive, leather suite delivered with a flaw in one of the cushions. It was recovered by an independent upholstery firm. The guy who did the job gave this advice Quote: don't use any of these fancy leather cleaners use Pampers baby wipes, far better and safer than all these fancy ones. Use a good leather conditioner a couple of times a year.

The wipes are simple and easy to use and are throw away. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Little marks on the trim from throwing keys in the centre.
