Replacing Handbrake Gaiter

Hi all,

I've just replaced my handbrake gaiter but I'm struggling to get it clipped in properly. There is a clip on the passengers side centre panel that I just cannot get in.

Any thoughts on how to do this?

No never worked it out and I've just left it now. It looks like it needs to be accessed from underneath in order to get it clipped on.

But please let me know if you do work out how to do it.

Just replaced the manual gear change and hand brake gaitors

Searched the post for a guide , and ended up here so was wary of a problem , I know its an old post but may be usefuls to someone looking to do the same

the gear change is simple and easy and covered extesivley my advise in buy one with the plastic frame

the hand brake is not so simple but was easy enought to do
Note the handbrake has a plastic frame, to remove pull up on the seat side and it pops up you then have to "push " down on the consul side as the clips pull up to latch

I had to remove the plactic frame and glue (contact adhesive )the leather gaitor to the old frame
have a good look at the fit and cut-outs on the new gaitor before you remove the old one
take care pull / peal off the old one and clean the frame and some bits will stick to the frame

to refit tilt the frame so the consul side is lower than the cut out its more of a tilt fit just lower on the consul side
pistion in place and push down the side side clips then pull up the gaitor on the consul side
dont worry if the seat side pops off
when pulling up the consul side you need to pull straight up and try and keep the U shape clips in iine with the consul outerwise it misses and does not latch
See above post pictures

practice with the old one first as the new leather is a bit stiffer and takes a couple of attempts to latch correctly

just be careful take a bit of time and not force anything and is quite easy and doable
