It is much easier with the flexible head ratchet and then be prepared to spill the oil in the housing down your arm - yugh! - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

I believe a low-profile socket is the recommended way. |

I had not considered a low profile socket so thanks for that idea, looking at prices and it looks to be around £8 for the socket and £12 for the spanner so I will go with the spanner as this will come in handy at work too, thanks for suggestions all 👍 Black FL2

27mm ratchet spanner in use from under the vehicle. You only need to move a plastic pipe slightly to withdraw the housing and filter. |
