Number Plate Lights

How do you remove the number plate light covers so I can fit new bulbs. I tried but chickened out in case I broke one Sad 2014 Audi A4 Avant - Dont like it !
08 FL2 HSE AUTO, LOVE IT.
1999 ASTRA VAN,HAD IT FROM NEW.
KAWASAKI KH 250 B4.

It seems you need to go for it.

LICENSE PLATE LAMPS
Two license plate lamps are fitted in the tailgate handle, above the license plate in the upper tailgate. Each lamp uses a
5W capless type bulb.
The lamps are secured in the upper liftgate handle with integral clips. The lamps can be released from the handle using a
small, flat blade screwdriver. The license plate lamps are active at all times when the side lamps or headlamps are
switched on.

Note, however, that aiui you have to remove the entire lamp fitting, not just the cover, then the bulb holder bayonets out from the back.
