Hi PH. Not sure what you are after. Generally, all cars 2007 to 2012 have the same wiring. Although there was some minor lighting changes 2011. MY2013 onwards changed to LED tail lights and DRLs/signature lights dependent upon model. Also different dash, ICE, etc, so major changes there.

Please may I ask you to research on here about Hid bulbs in standard headlights, it technically doesn't work for optical reasons. The only way is to buy OE xenon headlights which optically have the proper matched bulbs and chrome eliptical reflectors. I fitted Hid and removed it the day after. I've documented it on here but don't know how to add the link.
.
Hid aftermarket gives crap and dazzling results; sensible solution is Nightbreaker unlimited bulbs.
.
Lots of cars manufactured over the last ten years have Canbus.
.
Kind regards from Fred

So if I buy some proper 2nd hand units is it a straight swap or do I need other bits?

To be honest having read various positive and negative reviews I am think I may be better just to fit some spotlights if I want better lights.
