I have just picked up my Freelander after being in the garage for 3 weeks with clutch problems(see post 23rd June)
They replaced clutch master cylinder which was leaking, but this did not cure the fault. They then removed the gearbox and found the slave cylinder also leaking. It was noticed that some fluid from the slave cylinder had got on to and damaged the clutch plate. So they have replaced slave cylinder and clutch as well.
New gear linkage cables have also been fitted to cure stiff/squeaky gear change.
I have only driven it 10 miles home but the clutch and gear change seem to be perfect. Its so nice to be able to see over the hedgerows and traffic again after driving the X Type Jag loan car. Lets hope this is the end of the problem for good. I have not seen any other post regarding this clutch fault, so i guess i nave just been unlucky. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4.Zermatt Silver,Privacy glass,Bi-Xenon headlights........Gone!

Hope its cured, those slave cylinders can be a pain I've had to do a few tractor ones, now that job really is a pain you have to take the whole front off the tractor  At work
