Very Strange lights!

Hi, I just fitted a power point in the boot of my freelander 2, using the wires that would go to the tow bar if i had one (fuse F9)

Everything went fine and it worked with my phone charger and ipod charger but when I plug in something larger like my fridge the rear lights come on!

The fridge has always worked fine in the other power outlets without the rear lights coming on and the main reason for adding the extra outlet was to power the fridge.

Has anyone else experienced any problems when adding a power outlet?

Thanks Craig www.222photography.co.uk

don't know about electrics but are you sure you haven't a short, which is passing a current to the lights Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

it seems to only be when theres a high usage plugged into it, I pretty sure theres no short as I didn't interfere with any other wires. www.222photography.co.uk

it is abit strange as when i connect my caravan my light don't automatically come on, so its not a safety design feature Confused

maybe try a resistor or something to stop the current returning to the car Idea

I seem to remember that the FL2, doesn't send a current directly to the lights like old cars did, it sends a message to a relay or something like that, but i maybe completely wrong as i wasn't paying attention Embarassed Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

im pretty sure the towbar wiring runs off a can-bus system which should not be cut into as it can cause various electrical problems
i would advise that you disconnect your wiring straight away and that you either take your power supply direct from the battery or from one of the other two power outlet in your fl2 2007 fl2 narvik black ,chrome mirrors, side steps, tinted windows,20" kahn wheels,6000k xenon conversion, black leather, garmin nuvi satnav, silver vision indicator bulbs, clear side repeaters.

I think some others have tapped into the tupperware box next to the spare wheel possibly using an in-line fuse At work
