Rear brake discs?

Looked for brake discs as they will need changing soon, big differance in price. Do not like Britpart as they are budget discs and I tow a caravan. Genuine parts about £85 anyone used lower priced ones as I can get Delphi ones for £45 don't know if these are ok or not, anyone used them? Steve the newby

Not 100% on this but the Genuine Discs are TRW ones, Pads certainly are.

I used TRW (original equipment) for all parts: 2 disc and 2 sets of brake pads.
Total about £100 fitted.

Sorry for saying but I don't know how one can say that £85 is expensive and looks for cheaper ones when a tank full of diesel is about the same price.
And a tank full lasts 500 miles, when a full set of disks and pads last almost a hundred times more and it's a safety issue.

Boy... what a stingy world, even with things that matter...

I am happy to go with whatever Steve @ Advanced sells. I have B&B discs and pads on my D3 and VW Passat. I have to say, the front ones on my D3 have warped, BUT, they are being replaced under warranty. Many in the D3 world use B&B and have no issues with them and I am happy to believe that this rare - if it weren't, believe me, Steve wouldn't stock them.

I am not one to be stingy or use poor quality products, but when you have good products at such a great price with top customer service, why spend more?

If you want to have a chat about brake parts suppliers, give Steve a call 023 8052 2771. Thumbs Up

Or since it's a Ford braking system you could always get the same parts cheaper from them (does anyone know equivalent part numbers?) when I last bought genuine LR brake parts they were stamped FoMoCo!

I used Mintex pads and discs, front and rear on mine and I CANNOT get rid of the squeal when coming to a stop. I have removed, lubed and roughed them up countless times with no joy. Mind you, it's handy for letting me know when wifey has arrived home and I can quickly change TV channels before she gets indoors, if you know what I mean. Wink Laughing

Don't be put off by our reasonable prices, we did this for the forums, they aren't cheap we just don't make much profit!

Pagid - Sorry to be the bearer of sad news.... This is a licenced brand name to Euro Car Parts, it isn't what you would have purchased a few years back, now you can find multiple sourced product in the box and not necessarily as good as you might expect! The brand owner is TMD Friction or Mintex as you would have known them in the UK. It did used to be the TMD flagship brand but as I said can be anything in the box now, not just product supplied by TMD.

Yes it's a shared Ford platform, S Max is the closest set up but you will find the brakes on Mondeo's & Volvo's alike.

Original build material would not be one maker. For example the front calipers are manufactured by ATE, the rear are manufactured by TRW. Even though they are responsible for the design and build of the calipers someone else's friction material may have been used.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) are even likely to be different to OES (Original Equipment Supplied) and indeed can change many times in the ten years or so after first production that the VM actually cares about.

We are happy with anything we sell and give a 2 year warranty, in most cases that is longer than the suppliers give us so you can be assured we are confident in our product. We offer choices to suit the reasons people want those choices such as price or brand image, none of them are particularly better or worse and for sure none of them are rubbish. Paul Redding

The choice was helped because I live a few minutes from euro car parts Laughing Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto
