Do recalls have expiry dates?

Hi all,

New member here but I've been reading these forums for a while now. A great resource thanks.

I've just read/cleared the fault codes on my FL2 using my IID tool (bought for use on my Discovery 3 but also available in beta for FL2) and found a fault that won't clear with my PTC heater.

B10EA-14 (2F) Positive temperature coefficient heater - General electrical failure - circuit short to ground or op

I knew there was a recall on the PTC (P014-2 UK) so checked with LR if the recall had been done. According to my local dealer there's no evidence that the recall was done on my FL2.

Rather than say they'll fix it under the recall however they say that I need to pay for an hours diagnostics (£110!) and even if a fault is found they won't say if they'll undertake the recall fix or not as the recall "might" have expired.

Does anyone know if recalls such as these expire or not? I know the recall was a while ago, and the previous owners should have sorted it but I would have thought a safety issue was a safety issue until it was fixed?

Also has anyone had this recall undertaken recently?

Thanks v much for the help

Not an option to live without I'm afraid as a cold car gives me severe pain in the ears... every time SWMBO drives it Smile

Good thinking. Have just phoned them and they obviously have access to different systems than my local dealer as they were able to tell me where and when the heater recall was done...

Looks like its up to me to fix it...

Assuming its part of the heater matrix and and probably means I need to pull half the dash out to get to it. How hard can it be Confused

OK, so when I look at the recall notice (http://lr-club.com/index.php?act=attach&am...t&id=114595) it says its about an hour to do the work described which I thought was good news for me.

Unfortunately step 1 in the description of the work to be carried out says "Remove the Electric Boost Heater (see the procedure outlined in the Global Technical Reference (GTR) 412-02)". At step 8 you then replace the Electric Boost Heater...

So it seems to me that the recall isn't actually to replace the Electric Boost Heater itself, but to replace the aircon evaporator radiator (which was what was putting moisture onto the boost heater and causing it to fail).

If by the time the recall was done your heater was already Censored , I assume it was replaced but to do this I guess I need the instructions in "Global Technical Reference (GTR) 412-02". I've searched the net but can't find a copy of this anywhere.

Has anyone ever come across a copy GTR 412-02?

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, but that's same recall notice as I've already looked at I'm afraid.

Step number 1 says: "Remove the Electric Boost Heater (see the procedure outlined in the Global Technical
Reference (GTR) 412-02)"

If anyone has GTR 412-02 it would be great. Thanks!

FWIW I bought a 13 year old Audi TT 3.2 VR6 MK1. We had all 6 coil packs replaced by Audi FOC as there was an outstanding recall despite if not seeing an Audi dealership since it's warranty expired, and it had been remapped. Jules
