i'm tempted by the march date, the price has gone up by £5.

Anyone else planning on going?

Some feedback on this:
Spent a whole day driving around the forest (10.00 am till 5.00 pm). All on forestry tracks, mostly stone/gravel, with some excursions onto muddier ones. One section unavailable as trees had come down overnight. Non-damaging, although just one section had some friendly Christmas trees which didn't bother me but might upset some of our fanatical detailers. Most of the vehicles were newish discos and defenders, one other FR2 (belonging to one of the leaders) and a FR1. And one Suzuki.
Serious off-road stuff in the quarry not available owing to nesting ospreys. Presumably this will be back later in the year.
Verdict - if you want to spend a day on farm tracks and have a good look around Kielder forest, this is a good day out (and remember all the proceeds go to the mountain rescue team). If you want to do extreme things in the mud then this may not be for you - at least check out the osprey situation before you book! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

It is a good day out, albeit a little tame without the quarry, we usually make a weekend of it and do some walking the day before, there are loads of tracks and things to find, the Ospreys I have seen, there is an old plane wreck, although last time I went it was covered in snow. That outing was good as the tracks are far more infesting when slippy.
I don't mind the trees, yes I keep the car shiny but not adverse to going into places it was designed for.

If you are there overnight and like the sky at night, it's one of the darkest places in the UK and if the skies are clear you get to appreciate just how many stars we have in the Northern Skies.

There has been talk in the past of an overnight drive but this has never got off the ground.

Regarding the night sky, there's even a purpose-built observatory. If you are an outdoorsy person Kielder is great. Very popular for mountain biking as well, with dedicated trails, bike hire, events, etc. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
