... you'd think so eh? In my office no one gives a damn. Everything goes on as normal. Even if you are clearly standing observing a minute's silence people will come up and talk to you. I usually find a quiet corner of the car park.

have got to agree, people are in too much of a rush, having served Queen and Country i was driving at 10:45 ish, I found a place to stop got out of my car and stood proud

At the school where I work, the entire place stopped for two minutes....all the pupils standing in classes observing the silence in quiet reflection.
Very respectful, and good to see: rightly so!

Glad to hear these things are still being taught in some schools. Some kids I've spoken to know nothing at all about WWII never mind WWI as it's not taught at their school.....

They also believe in aliens but don't believe that we went to the moon but that's another matter...

My kids both at Middle school have learned about both wars over the past month which culminated in a 1.5hour assembly for the whole school from 10am onwards with 2minutes silence. It was attended by the town mayor and local MP.
My youngest son was also asked to take part in the remembrance parade through our town on Sunday to represent the school.
I am pleased the school took this stance and used it as a learning experience and not just a 2 minute event. They both now have a good understanding of what people gave up to give us the world we have today.
