rear parking sensors - on/off switch on a GS?

is there any way to switch on/off the rear parking sensors in a GS model?
or are they on all of the time?

The sensors are automatically switched off when a connection is made to the 12N socket ie when towing a trailer or when plugging ijn a bike carrier light board otherwise I don't think there is a way of disabling them Thumbs Up

On second thoughts all you would need to do is buy a spare 12N plug without wiring it up, then if you plug it in the sensors would be disabled Smile

I think Land Rover has to apply a software update when you have a tow bar fitted to tell the system to disable the park sensors when hooked up to a trailer

Yes there is a software update to be applied, but you'd have thought that by having it fitted by LR they should have got it right, and tested it.

Don't think there is a way for the driver to turn off the reversing alarm. Is it possible to plug into another trailer or a lighting board to confirm that the problem is the same?

sounds like its back to the dealer I'm afraid.

went to the stealers today... one and a half hours later, they came back saying they couldnt fix it and that i need a 'trailer module'. The sensors thought i had a trailer hitched up therefore they were not working.
they are ordering one up and will call me when its in to get me to go back and leave my car with them.

funny thing is that i was reversing into my driveway tonight and it warned me when in was getting too close to my wee lotus!
So now it works!! Confused i'll need to phone them in the morning now and ask them if they switched it on permanently or not? ie. if i connect a trailer, will the sensors go crazy?

im confused Neutral Rolling Eyes 07 Fl2 GS

I would say you let the dealers get on with their order and meantime you see what happens with your sensors.
Maybe put someting nondamaging (cardboard box ?) and reverse a couple of times. Thumbs Up FREELANDER 2 TD4 SE (XS UK) IZMIR BLUE SIDE STEPS COLD PACK BI-XENON TINTED WINDOWS - AND PROUD OF HER

got the towbar fixed on friday...

the dealer's 'girl behind the desk' let slip that the 'trailer module' was actually a simple relay that wasnt ordered as part of the towbar kit originally.

thats good going considering it only cost me fecking 500 quid for the towbar and 4 hours out of my life trying to get it fixed! Rolling Eyes 07 Fl2 GS
