2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Stornoway Grey

SLICK 50

Some Disco owners on the Disco3 sister site have been using Slick 50 in their engines.On no account should this be used as it has been proved in tests to block up oil lines,filters and oil pumps leading to loss of oil pressure and severe wear. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

What about Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 additive?
Is that harmful?

I hope not

I've used several bottles of the stuff

Though not used in the last 15000 miles since my engined loosened up, must give it a try.

Using Millers in fuel is similar to using the premium grade fuels like BP Ultimate or Shell V Power, so isn't a problem IMHO.

I used it in my VW cos I read it was good for performance/mpg etc.

Cant honestly say I noticed much difference but totally different type of engine to the FL2.

Anything to prolong the life basically is good IMHO

To all concerned: leave it!!! Slick 50 is not recommended at all. Much better is Motor Protect from Liqui Moli.

Agree that Slick 50 can block narrow oilways and filters - best avoided and not required by modern engines with modern oils anyway.

I've used Millers Diesel Power plus in my Discovery fuel for 5 years and it protects the fuel system Low Sulphur Diesel has less lubricity and can wear pumps and injectors more. It raises the Cetane No of the fuel by 2 whcih helps engine output especially if you buy supermarket fuel. I buy 5L at a time from a motor factor and not the 500 ml bottles, by the way as it's far more cost-effective. After many miles and several trials, I am sure I get better performance and mileage from Shell standard Diesel than (e.g.) Sainsburys, so I stick to that. The price hike for the BP and V-Power Shell does not pay back in better economy so I don't go there.

The Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 raises the Cetane No by 4 (hence the name). Both MIllers products are good for power OR economy depending on how you use your right foot!

I've started putting Millers into the merc and it does seem to add a couple of mpg. I mainly used it to keep the injectors and fuel system nice and clean but she does run nicer I must admit.
Where do you get the big bottles from? The 500ml can get a bit expensive. 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good!

Try to replace Millers against a good 2-T oil (JASO FB or FC) with very similar effects at a portion of the price of Millers.
