Firstly, a big hello to everyone, I have been a guest on the site for some time and have finally decided to take the plunge and register!

I am confused, if you are fitting roofrails and bars to a FL2 with glass roof do you need a specific type of rail kit? I keep getting conflicting info.

Are the rails easy to fit?

How do the Thule rails compare price/looks wise?

The roof rails on the FL2 with a sunroof are model specific, they have a small spoiler on the underside of the cross bar that is perminatley fitted at the rear of the front/back rails.

If you get the rails for a Non-Sunroofed car you will get exessive wind noise.

I beleive the cross bars (which would carry the load) are the same wether you have a sunroof or not.

I went for the Thule roofbars as i don't have the roof rails

I got the Feet and standard bars for little of £100, these are great if you want to save a little money.

You get a bit of wind noise but nothing too bad, but these are the square bars, you can get aero bars for little more £'s.

I only got them to carry loads of things that wouldn't fit in the car from B&Q and for when i get a roofbox.


I think i may one day get the roof rails though but there is other things to spend £200 +fitting on  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

750 Feet
Either 762 or 862 bars depending on whether you want standard size or aerodynamic
1443 adaptor kit.

That info certainly clears things up, I had read about wind noise, this was one of the reasons I was considering the Thule bars. The other reason being price.

I do think the LR rails look good as a permenant fixture, does anyone have any info on prices etc. of the Thule bars. A picture would be great I would like to compare them both before making a decision.

Does anyone know how easy the LR rails are to fit, I was assuming that if Yeovil LR are selling them on Ebay then it shouldn't be rocket science, but I don't want to go making a hash of it!

They look fine, I would hardly be using them really so I don't really want to go and spend £200+.

Were off to the Dordogne this year. Hence the roof bars! Do you get far?

I try to get out and about in the caravan as much as possible

Got a trip up to richmond area in a week or two

then down to near Ashbourne in derbyshire for the bank holiday

Got a week at Clumber Park, Nottingham in July aswell

Did Scotland last year for a couple of weeks

We usually spend most of our time in The Lakes, Ullswater area. Except for France in the summer to enjoy all the local vineyards!
