FL2 Lift Kits??

Hi All,

I have been searching for a decent lift kit for my FL2. There is absolutely nothing in Australia, hoping there is a decent kit elsewhere. Any assistance would be much appreciated. It's ok to be ugly, but you've overdone it!

The kit extends the suspension struts giving more ground clearance. but possibly upsetting the suspension geometry and over extending the drive shafts. Only needed for more serious off roading At work

There is a kit available for Freelie 1 from Scorpion Racing - gives the max of 2" lift as after that on a Freelander1 you need to do all sorts of other mods to the drive train. Even a 2" lift on a F1 introduced quite a few problems with extra wear on components as commented on by CG. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

Found this at the weekend. http://www.matzker.de/index.php?cPath=30_37

Some good looking stuff, like the idea of Disco 3 wheels, mud terrain tyres, lift kit, and more power.

I know Duckworth parts sells Matzker stuff in the UK for the Disco 3, bet they could get the FL2 bits. Not sure about Oz though, perhaps there is an importer, or you could get them imported yourself.

Interesting.
Altough the price of 1395 Eur for 26 HP and 60 Nm is sort of high they are offering a 3year/10000Km warranty and TUV certificate and change of power in your car certificate/registration which is rather interesting as it would replace the lost warranty if LR finds out about the remap. Don't know if it's legal inother countries then Germany .
As I do not tow or intend to tow it does not seem interesting to me but for caravan towers maybe/
This will surely atract some comments about caravans needed to be towed.
It may be as they say that adapting for wider wheels as D3 or RRS will improove comfort (which I find excelent as it is) but it will surely decrease mpg as the cotact surface increases.

Matzker do same very good stuff for RRS and D3 (and I suppose it could be fitted to a FFRR too) - trick suspension stuff that fools the ECU so you can drive at high speed with the air suspension on access mode or have a super extended offroad height................ as well as doing all the other fancy stuff to enhance the off road or on road performance of the cars.
I have some articles scanned into my gallery on RRS:

No I have had no luck at this stage. I have a few tricks up my sleeve though. I am going to take my car to Ritter Automotive in Melbourne, they are Land Rover Specialists and have manufactured alot of their own equipment for other Land Rover models. They have been extremely helpful with everything. I am going to leave my car with them for a day so they can take some measurements etc.. I will keep everyone updated with their progress.

Im unsure why everyone on here keeps saying why would you do that, its only for serious off roading... I mean honestly, what off roading are you guys doing?? The FL2 needs a lift kit and possibly even a body lift and some decent tyres for even the most basic of off road tracks. At the moment I could more than likely get a 2wd car as far as what I could get my FL2. Although I have taken my FL2 into some basic areas and it outperformed my expections, just tyres and ground clearance let it down. I think we some nice little modifications the FL2 will be unstoppable.

I am now going to fit a set of 20s for the road and take my 17s and fit some decent tyres for my off roading. Im going away with Land Cruisers, Jeeps etc.. and need to hold my own! Also on order is a digital power box chip which I can play with to increase hp and torque etc... It is a Mal Electronics unit and was very well priced for what it can do. (199 euro) It is a digital unit and has quite a few settings to play with. Should see this within a week. Also going to fit some bling, smoked side indicators and some chrome mouldings over the black. I will throw some pictures up when its finished. It's ok to be ugly, but you've overdone it!

Mainly because here in the UK most rough roads are private and closed to the public or thanks to rambling clubs closed to vehicles as well.
So in the UK fitting a lift kit would only be for the serious off road enthusiast. Most of us only use the FL2 on the highway where a lift kit would be a disadvantage.

I didn't mean I disapprove of lift kits, just that there arn't many in the UK who would really need then. Good luck in your search. At work

Iceland has a great landscape and they love taking a regular 4x4 and modding them.

Went over there a couple of times and another part of the company I was dealing with is the VW, Skoda, Audi and Mitsubishi dealer, and if you had seen the mods they make to brand new Shogun's (Pajero's) to fit large tyres on its crazy.....and for vehciles that are used daily on the road!

Moving the rear axle back several inches and cutting wheel arches and fenders to suit. Shocked Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!
