We are off to Spain with the 'van in April and I would appreciate some advice from others who have towed there regarding the requirement for rear marker boards.

The CC web site says this is required for any car/caravan combinations or motor homes over 12m in length. I have a Coachman VIP 560/4 which has a shipping length of 7.45m. This plus the Freelander's 4.5m puts me at 11.95m (the front of the hitch is just within the rear bumper).

I assume this is really aimed at twin axle 'vans but has anyone ever been stopped or fined for not having boards? I'll take my docs with me to prove I am not over 12m.
