Finland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tonga Green
Knock from the rear

Hi,

2008 Freelander makes a snap noise when lifting clutch 1st gear after reversing. It sounds coming around from left rear wheel. Not very loud, not so small either. Just one cnock immediately when car starts moving forward after reversing.
This is the only situation when any sound occurs.
Rear diff is new factory repaired.
Any ideas for this?
Brake? Bushings? What?

We have a winter here and not so interested for examine this outside, hoping someone could give me a useful hint where to start looking. Thanks.

Goody213 described a very similar problem back in November, sadly which often happens, a member doesn't return to post an outcome. You could have a look in this thread, perhaps PM Goody213 Question

Thanks for the replies.
That coil spring makes sense. I think I'll check it someday. Anyway, that knock appears only ocassionally, mostly when leaving home after car has been parked overnight. Not anything too serious, I think.
