Performance Chip/Module

Hallo
Anyone thinking/got a Performance Chip/Module for our FL2 TD4?
Even with 160 bhp it would be nice with 10-20% more power! Twisted Evil
Even if it could mess with the 3 year garantee. Sheep

Hi Chris

Have fitted a module from 'Diesel Tuning Sytems'. A very easy fit, also like the way it can be removed for servicing / sale, unlike a 'chip'. The module was a lot cheaper than major brand chips. There are varying settings on module for fueling and turbo boost. if the settings are too high you will get a 'reduced performance' mode occuring. settings simple enough to set lower until you don't get warnings.

Module certainly gives car power / torque, but as ever if you use the power to its max, fuel consumption will suffer. Fuel consumption ok with normal driving.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Martin

Just a point to remember guys. Ok - you can keep it quiet from LR from obvious reasons but do tell your insurance company. These boxes are so popular these days that it's one of the first things an insurance assessor looks for. Aside from the legal implications, it may not be easy or even possible to remove after an accident and the last thing you need is for them to declare you ininsured (which they will).

The only other downside of tuning boxes that I am aware of is premature wear of the injectors. 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good!

I have a bluefin from superchips, you can basically take it off at any time.
It gives an increase of about 33bhp. Very Happy
We already had the bluefin on our previous car (Audi), when we purchased the Freelander as the bluefin was under a year old we returned the handset to Superchips who put a new lead on for the freelander (only charged postage) and then sent us the new map for it.

Obviously all modifications must be declared to your Insurance company. Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

It goes well, but we more or less put it on straight away when we got the car.
Its seems to want to just keep going though!
It did make a noticable diffirence on the Audi A3 as we ran it without it for while before buying the bluefin.
May take it off the freelander and try it, if get chance, to see difference. Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards
