Canada 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

Interesting thread and good DIY fix that saves a ton of money. Just curious, did any of you folk also have a drained battery after letting the vehicle just sit before the blower issue ensued?

Yes. I have to charge my battery after about a week of it sitting.

Do you think it's related?

I did a lot of searching on the forum a few weeks back because I thought I had a battery drain issue (I actually did not as I figured out it was just temporary) and I read a number of times on different threads that if the battery voltage drains slowly over a number of days to a really low voltage, then some control modules get really "messed up" and go into a deep sleep state. Would explain why jumping it would reset it or wake it up.

I would invest in a CTEK/NOCO battery maintainer if the vehicle will be unused for more than three days.

Hi all,

Not want to ruin the party here, but that fix wont last. Your fan motor is on its way out and has stopped in a position where it is partly seized. Doing the short in the connector will put full power directly to the motor and free it from this position. I had this and did this trick 5-6 times before I replaced the fan motor. Just jumping onto this post as it's sort of related, I have an issue where the ventilation fan just keeps running, even with the key out. I can only stop it by removing the fuse.
Some have mentioned a fan module behind the glovebox so is there a chance this may have failed on or is there a relay somewhere else?
I should mention that the fan appears to run flat out and the fascia controls make no difference to the speed.

I seem to recall on this forum a number of times where heater blowers went to sleep after prolonged switch off. It happened to my son a few years back, we had been away on holiday for a few weeks and when he started up the heater and blower were not functioning. He drove off in disgust and a little while later called to say that it had started coming back to life and eventually working OK again. It was never a problem after that. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
