Steepest incline in FR2

What's the steepest incline you could drive up in an FR2 before the law of physics took over and the car car couldn't go any further? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

On my LR day the instructor said 45 degrees was near / at max BUT should only be attempted in reverse as if the car veered offline, as it very well could, the engine weight would keep it going further offline then you would roll as the roll tip point is reached at 35 degrees.

In reverse the engine weight would keep the car pointing downhill nose first so if the attempt was abandoned it would just run down the slope in a straight line.

Hope that makes sense!

If you reverse up then it would be much easier to come down front first after a stall, using HDC. Question Does HDC work in reverse?

Confused
i could never find out, as every time i tried to pull off a steep incline (stopped half way up the hill) the car always stalled.
disengaging the DSC and putting the terrain response in sand mode helped a bit (used sand mode although the hill was dry grass).
the clutch took a serious hammering so i did not try it too many times.

the thing that worked was the brakes holding and releasing after a couple of seconds, though this was not enough to build up revs to pull off the incline..

the car doesn't like to pull off steep inclines...

next time the automatic is the choice to go for !

Whilst I didn't measure the angle of the slope, it was too steep to stand on without hanging on to a tree. Thats why it blew us away. To think that the FL2 could go up in reverse was insane.

They can go where ever a Defender goes but they can't get back out of it. Very Happy I've been out on the tracks with a stack of Defenders and Discos and trust me, the FL2 is good, but nowhere near as good as them. Not even close.
