DPF became standard in UK from 2011 Model Year which went on sale in about September 2010.
Not had a problem with DPF on my average 14 mile each way commute to work and not aware of DPF issues on the Freelanders at LR Experience Centres which probably do about 10 miles on road and a couple of miles off road per day.

Most problems seem to be with the early (continental) models. LR Experience instructor told me they had the odd problem but using premium grade diesel cured it.

I do a lot of short journeys sub 2 miles, and a commute of about 14 miles. Dpf Full has only happened once after I had it left at a garage for mot, they must have left it running. I also do the odd long run about once a month.

The odd long run does seem to be what keeps it clear and it's not a case of revving the nuts ( like holding 4th at 70mph) off it on a motorway , it clears best when just driven normally in top gear at motorway speeds for a period of time. Once it sees driving for 20mins about 50mph or so it will clear the dpf over a few mins. Mine smelled almost like burning metal when it cleared.
