Good idea Mr Npinks.
I thought of asking Katherine Jenkins.

Yeah, that'll do Thumbs Up
To be honest, Helen is a Welsh speaker, so that will be a great help, although she thinks it's better to attend lessons from a trained tutor with a lot of patience. That'll save having my head bashed in with a frying pan Laughing Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Nothling like dredging an old post from the past - how did you get on Pegleg? Did you progress and how difficult / easy did you find it?

I'm still at it Sub Thumbs Up
And there's no sign of me giving up either.
The classes I attended stopped because so many 'Jacked' it in. Laughing
It's taking me a lot longer than when I learnt German, but to be honest that's my fault cos I've been a bit idle of late.
I don't find it too difficult; I had advice to concentrate on my pronunciation first and one of the old chaps in the village says I actually do now have a local accent!
However, when I cross the border to 'Jackoland', I have to remind myself not to speak Welsh, really.
I've progressed past the beginner stage, still learning online, and had to laugh at a local with a lisp trying to say 'squirrel' in Welsh Laughing
It sounded more like Wilwow Laughing
A lot to learn, I'm at the bottom of the ladder, but enjoying it too Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

That's good to hear! You're doing better than any time i've tried to learn a language!

Do you get much practise with the locals? I don't know where you are so I don't know whether that would be helpful Whistle

I'm in Mid Powys, between Welshpool and Mach.
I speak with the locals every day; very little English here except the West Midlanders with caravans.
Some locals don't know any English whatsoever. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Ah right, I don't often go much east of machynlleth, but I go through mach fairly often. Practise is probably the best method of learning isn't it! Keep up the good work Thumbs Up

I don't know if there is a Welsh version but Microsoft Word for Northerners sounds useful

I speak poor French and we sometimes have some French friends stay with us in the UK so we practise hard when they are here . Once whilst we had them in the car (chatting in French) I jumped out to get some bread from the local bakers and got some strange blank looks and then realised I had actually shouted "je voudrais deux baguettes si'l vous plait". It wouldn't have been so bad if the staff didn't know me. Confused 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

A friend of mine always advised that when judging Southerners we must always remember that they have not had the benefit of our disadvantages.

I have a relative in Australia, he is a farmer who grew up in Wales. He claims that he still does mental arithmetic in Welsh as he finds it easier. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
