100,004 miles

Driving up the A1 I noticed the odometer had just gone through the 100K mile barrier. I pulled in the next lay-by to take a commemorative picture for the record. (A1 north, opposite Woolfox Lodge, nr Stretton)
I have owned the car since July 2011, when it was at 75K and 3 years old.
On purchase, the FSH revealed: Level one diff repair; rear wheel bearings replaced; intercooler pipe replaced- plus tyre expenditure equivalent to 4 tyre sets Shocked
Since, one front disc caliper was replaced at 76K (seized - caused by a split rubber seal) plus both discs and pads (on warranty). Upgraded headlights to Osram Nightbreaker. New wiper blades last year. I replaced the rear discs & pads at 90K, also the wheel arch edge trims. At 96K the tailgate latch failed. I replaced it after a struggle, dismantling it from the inside! At the same time I resealed the high level stop light. The car came with a new set of Wranglers. Still fitted. I also have a set of wheels with Avon Ranger Ice for winter motoring. That is all. No complaints from me!
No plans to change it yet (fingers crossed Wink )

Where do you go to clock up all those miles? My 09 has only got 29k+ on the clock but might go over to 30k on the trip to Halewood on Friday.

Bill, previous owner used it for business, clocking up 25K pa. Something to do with luxury conservatories up in the north east. (Have services recorded at Stratstone Stockton on Tees). I generally do about 10K pa but recently just returned from a 2,900 mile caravan holiday to Denmark/Sweden/Norway. Pity about the Halewood trip, I have a prior engagement or I would be there with you. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

My wife's 07 plate has 97,000 miles on it!! I'm always complaining as she does around 20k miles/year and around 15k of that is travelling from home to go shopping every day! As she only works one day a week! In a week she will generally go shopping in Leicester...Milton Keynes....Birmingham ...Coventry....Northampton....Sheffield....seriously!!

I do around 5k miles/year in my 4x4 Black FL2

Sorry about that, Hoss. You can see my fuel consumption records if you click the "pump" in my sig. The manual is a little better than the auto, but later (09 on) models have the 4th generation Haldex which offers better economy. Even later stop/start models better again. But hey, what the hell, who bought a Land Rover for fuel economy? Wink

Hi Hoss,
.
my 2010 auto is not impressive on MPG when towing however its better than yours.
May I enquire if you have the official LR towing electrics fitted? The genuine LR kit apparently changes the towing gear change rev points to a 'towing setting' when the van is connected, I also switch the gear lever to sport when seeing a very long hill climb when for example on the M5 to Cornwall.
.

Well that review bodes well for me....

12 months yesterday since I got mine and I am loving it....

I've had a fair bit done to it to be up to spec but it sounds simular to what you have had so far.

102k miles on mine now, got it at 37k just over three years ago now.

So far I've had to do:
1 set of tyres + 1 set of winter tyres, I usually swap them over in November but too mild this year. Brake pads and disks all round once. 2 sets of wiper blades, 2 rear hatch switches, 1 alternator.

Never even had an advisory at an MoT so no plans to change it anytime soon.

I commute around the Highlands for work, tow a speed boat on a trailer occasionally.

Manual box, original clutch to the best of my knowledge. I get 38 mpg average. Had a Bluefin remap done 2 years ago or so which helps the consumption a bit.

A belated congratulations on this milestone!

Never quite made the 100,000 miles with mine, but happy to settle for 89,000 milles in 2 years and 6 months. Here's hoping that my next one will be as reliable!

John.

Thanks John. As one of the prime costs of motoring is depreciation - and to change the car there is also the "hidden" cost of dealer profit, it may well make sense to drive it until it "drops". Ok, my fuel consumption is greater than a later model, but at 10-15K p.a., it is not a great cost in the scale of things. I have been given the chance of a 59 plate FSH low mileage on private sale only today, but I think I will pass and keep this one. I like Rimini red anyway!

How odd!!

Hi dunkley, I have 2008 FL2 with now 120k on the clock and are you sure you haven't got my service history log...mine is almost identical in items of replaced bits it's uncanny even down to the mileage on the tailgate latch! I have also just done my cambelt...I know they say 150k but the dealer was already in there replacing the alternator clutch as it was seized so it made sense to do it!
