This could be the answer to people like me with 18 or 19 inch wheels.
There is a late model Freelander 2 near me sporting 16 inch wheels and 245/70/r16 tyres looks great.
The owner gave me the details, Wheels are Velocity Wheels model number VW-441, had them milled to suit the car.

My Freelander is only 6 months old but will definatly get wheels like this when the warrenty runs out.

They are the same external diameter as my 245/65/17 and they work well off road. Be aware that the petrol models won't take 16" wheels because of the brake calipers.

I have an 08 diesel with standard 17" wheels and the slightly bigger AT's. The 16" wheels were only available as an option in the UK as far as I knew. The I6 petrol has bigger disk calipers than the diesel so requires 17" wheels to clear them. There are plenty of off road tyre options for 245/70/16 or 245/65/17. My son has the 245/70/16 Bridgestone Dueler AT's on his Jeep Cherokee and they are weapons.

Basically, if the rims are bigger then the tyre sidewall is smaller leaving the rolling diameter similar for every wheel size. Bigger sidewall is better off road but I'm not a fan of squeezing big tyres into a tight spot. The largest that will possibly fit would probably be 245/75/16 or 245/70/17 which are around 30.5 inch tyres, about the same as a stock standard Prado. In my view that's not worth the effort, modding the car up to be equal to an unmodded Prado? I just accept the fact that it's a short arse. It's still light years better than any others in its class.
