OK so the DS has GPS for the satnav, and the latest satnav discs - updated every month from LR.
The car has cameras that spot roadside speed signs.

At this point it would be "impossible" for it to get the sped limit wrong then ?

So why on every journey does it get it wrong at least half a dozen times. Our street is a 20 (has been for years), the car knows this because I drove past two signs when I parked it, and the satnav is up to date - still says it's 30 every time it starts up. Many times on back roads it says 60 when the limit is 40 or less. Motorway slip roads = 40 in some cases, can you imagine trying to get in-between the HGVs at 40mph.

The technology is flawed, in it's infancy and certainly not reliable enough to be implemented.

Oh and it "remembers" speed limits for previous road works for months and months - that would be fun barrelling down the outside lane and suddenly it decides to apply the brakes hard for a non-existent 50mph zone. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

It seems that we will get an - Accident Data Recorder in the package.

Although I am led to believe that the police can already ask for a decode of the last actions of a car, if the circumstances are serious enough.

It is no worse than the information I record voluntarily about my driving on my dash cam.

Outback roads, one has to concentrate to avoid the largest stones on stone ridden corrugated roads, while watching out for suicidal kangaroos & emus.

Then you are probably better off stopping & pulling over & actually turning the engine off so the air filter has a longer life.

You won't actually see the road anyway.

I can't see a computer coping with all that for a long time.

& is the automated system going to clean all the sensors every 30 minutes.
