I have a March 2011 SD4 XS. The Oil change display is now on. Having changed the Oil and filter is there a way to reset the warning. I have tried the manual reset procedure but it does not appear to work on the later models. I think Landrover have changed the Procedure and only there service centres can reset the warning?

Do any of you know if this is correct or what procedure do I need to follow? If you require a code reader to reset the warning does anyone know which model and type?

Try a search on here it has been mentioned a few times, this seems to be two messages on the latest models, one is the service count down and the other will display "Oil Service Visit Dealer" this it seems monitors the amount of diesel in the oil to do with DPF regeneration.

Like you said, the service interval (time/distance) can be reset manually by anyone.
The procedure can be found on the forum.

BUT

The oil service interval instead it's a procedure that only a dedicate tester (dealer's or other's) can perform.
It implies resetting some parameters in both engine ECU and Central Junction Box.

If you know what to do, i.e. sending commands over CAN bus, it's like this:
For engine ECU (CAN ID: 0x7E0):
1. Switch the engine ECU to extended diagnostic session (10 03)
2. Run the routine with ID 0x4024 (Oil change reset) on engine ECU (31 01 40 24)
3. Close engine ECU extended session (10 01)
For CJB (CAN ID: 0x726):
1. Switch the CJB to extended diagnostic session (10 03)
2. Authorize yourself on CJB by seed/key pair in order to gain write access (27 03 ...) (27 04 ...)
3. Write 0x0000 for PID 0x0528 (Oil wear backup) (2E 05 28 00 00)
4. Close CJB's extended session (10 01)

That's all.
