It worked well as a plate. Just had to tell the plate makers to set it as close as legally possible.


BTW: There is a Renewel Fee of £25 a year - up to 3 years. If it came off a vehicle (like me) then there's a Retention fee to pay, again, now up to 3 years. Not sure what happens after 3 years ownership though.

They do go up slowly in value, and theres some very nice numbers you can get at the moment for under £6000 which seems cheap, like 2 numbers 2 letters.
I bought mine for £190 in 1980 and its now worth around £8000 so its a long term investment Im thinking.

Bought mine in 1974 for £195 but haven't got a clue how much it's worth now. I would have thought a couple of thousand at the most.

The wife has a DVLA one bought in 2000. It's been on her FL 1 ever since. I don't think the value of that number has altered much. Pity I can't say the same thing about the car!
