Spare fob programming

Have been waiting for the second key fob from my dealer and it arrived in the post today. The 'blade' key works fine but the fob will neither lock or unlock the car. Does anyone know whether there is something I should be doing, or a programming routine I should be following please? Or is it a trip to my nearest dealer that I need? Thanks, DT

i'm not sure on the reprogramming side normally its a trip to the dealer for this type of thing

, but can you remember if the 'key' worked when the car was deadlocked, as my 'key' doesn't open the car up when it is, (as my other post in tech points out Big Cry ) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi all, I have had no problem with either the key fobs, they both open the locks ok whether dead locked or not. These fobs must be dedicated to a specific car so i gues they must be programed to match as necassary.

DT problem is his replacement came unprogramed, so it does nowt when the buttons are pressed,

Myself the buttons work fine, but the actual emergency key which you insert into the passenger door if the buttons don't work, will not open the door unless the car is not deadlocked and you only can un-deadlock the car with the buttons. (I found this out this morning when my keyfobs were been jammed by another device transmitting) and i couldn't get into my car Shocked

I think this is a serious design issue or a fault on mine, Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The new or replacement key fob unit will need to be learnt by the car and all key units must be present at the time of coding and can only be done at a dealer with the IDS diag laptop, the key blade is cut from the chassis no when ordered, normaly would take about half an hour to do but your dealer will action any recalls/updates you need as well so plan for a longer stay.

hope this helps Tony. Thumbs Up

Hi again, just tried ours and yes cant open the door with the key when dead locked, I had a vw sharan that when parked near felixstowe fire station the central locking did not work, put that down to there radio transmitter.

Great Rolling Eyes design their by LR then

I now going to look on eBay and see if i can purchase some ESP so i will then know not to deadlock the car when my keyfob stops working so i can then use the key to get in:shock:

So basically the boffins at LR beleive the keyfob buttons are indestructible and you will always be able to get in if the car is deadlocked..... What a joke......... Exclamation

I might go park outside my LR dealer with my faulty wireless driveway alarm that was causing the jamming signal and stopping my keyfobs opening the door and see how much work they get done that day Rolling with laughter
